Meet the Team

Rev. Gene Roe, MSFS, CAP®, CHFC®, CLF®, CLU®

(210) 771-5052

gene@wesleywealth.com

In 1988, after spending 5 years playing professional golf, including PGA tour events, Gene Roe began a career in the financial services industry. He started Planto Roe Financial Services with a partner in 1994. The firm grew into the second largest independent financial services firm in the greater San Antonio area. Under Gene's leadership the firm served over 5,000 clients.

In 2017, Gene sold Planto Roe Financial Services. This enabled him to focus on his clients, his ministry as an ordained United Methodist Minister, and his work with nonprofits and charitable organizations. Planto Roe was renamed Symmetry Financial Services and Gene continued to work with the group until 2019.

In August 2019, Gene started Wesley Wealth Management, a firm based on his mission of service to others through philanthropic financial planning. This change in course led many to believe that he retired. Far from it, Gene is busy at being of service to others through in-depth financial planning and charitable giving plans.

Gene graduated with a BBA from Texas State University in 1981, and received a Masters of Science in Financial Services from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He is ordained United Methodist Clergy, a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, attended Asbury and Perkins Theological Seminary, is a Chartered Leadership Fellow, a Chartered Financial Consultant, and a Chartered Life Underwriter. He also holds a Group 1 Life and Health Insurance License, as well as FINRA Series 63, 6, and 22 licenses.

Gene is a perpetual student who immerses himself in the pursuit of knowledge on financial matters. He regularly attends seminars and workshops and researches the economy, tax laws, and the financial markets so that he can share his education with his clients and create impactful legacy plans for them.

Gene is passionate about being an advocate for his clients, their families, and the causes they believe in. He has been a part of major life events in his client’s lives for over 30 years, from being by their side as they passed to caring for their families in cases of premature deaths. He understands the promise and perils of wealth on families and endeavors to create a passion for giving and impactful investing for generations. Gene’s goal is to provide his clients with simplicity, peace of mind, a deep understanding of what drives them, and tools to define, measure, and track their goals.

Additionally, he is both passionate and formally trained in working with nonprofits and churches to help their donors continue to fund impactful programs within God’s kingdom. He seeks to help all with whom he works answer God’s call on the gift of creating wealth and ensuring it positively impacts them, their family, and their community.

Gene’s ultimate goal is that we all have a positive answer in our exit interview. When God asks us if we have been of service to others (Matthew 25:31-46) we should all be able to answer, “yes Lord and I still am”!
